HOW TO PREPARE FOR A PROFESSIONAL INTERIOR PAINTING PROJECT
Finding a contractor or company that provides interior house painting services is just the first step towards completing your project. You will need to prepare your home to make it easier for the painters to get the job done. Preparation is also key to having a positive experience.
Below you will find some steps you can take to make sure the painting job goes efficiently.
Moving Furniture
Move furniture away from the wall prior to painters’ arrival at your property. You could also just move the furniture to the center of the room. Doing this leaves the painters enough room to move around and avoid the risk of damage.
Remove Ornaments and Wall Hangings
Carefully take down any wall decor, all paintings, pictures, candle holders, mirrors, clocks, and any other ornaments and wall hangings. You may be tempted to pile and cover the hangings and ornaments with large furniture gathered in the center or one corner of the room.
Clear Away knick- Knacks
Put away any little knick-knacks, decorative items, or mementos that you have on any shelves. Your house painter will shield your furniture with a drop cloth or tarp before they start work. However, it’s better to store them safely away before the contractors arrive.
Clean Surface
Giving every room you plan to paint a deep clean before painters arrive is more than a courtesy, also paint adheres better to clean surfaces. Anything you can do to reduce the amount of dirt and dust means it will be less likely to be kicked up during the painting project.
Access and Obstructions
Make sure painters have easy access to the spaces being painted. The less crowded and obstructed the room is before painting, the less likely any paint will drip on anything important.
Vacate the Area
In some instances, you might need to vacate the room or the house. Plan well and be sure you take all the things you will need to use which might be hard to access once the painting starts.
Being away also means you and your family members, especially kids, won’t have to inhale the paint fumes.
